Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 26, 2026

Macuum is made by SW TECH LLC ("we," "us"). This policy explains how Macuum, our macOS app, handles information. The short version: Macuum is built to run entirely on your Mac, and we don't collect your personal data.

What Macuum does on your Mac

Macuum reads system information that is already available to any app on your Mac in order to show you the health of your machine and let you act on it. This includes:

All of this stays on your Mac. None of it is uploaded anywhere, and Macuum does not require you to create an account or sign in.

The on-device AI ("Ask Macuum")

Where available, the explain and ask features use Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework, which runs locally on your Mac's own chip. The questions you ask and the answers you receive are processed on your device and are not sent to us or to any third party. On Macs where this on-device model isn't available, the AI features are simply turned off — Macuum does not fall back to sending your data to an external service without your explicit, opt-in action.

What we don't do

Permissions Macuum asks for

Macuum requests only the permissions it needs to do its job, and asks the first time each is actually needed:

Subscription and billing

Macuum is offered with a 7-day free trial followed by a $0.99/month subscription, billed and managed entirely through your Apple ID and the Mac App Store. We never see or store your payment details — that information is handled by Apple under their own privacy policy.

Children's privacy

Macuum is a system utility intended for general audiences and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because we do not collect personal information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on the Mac App Store.
